Tartan Farms Limited now has the License to provide Lowline Cross Meat to the market place and to you.

 

 
 

WE KNEW THAT THIS WOULD BE A SUCCESS.

 
  We have successfully obtained a Licence from the Franklin District Council who are the issuing agents for the NZFSA (New Zealand Food Safety Authority). This licence allows us to sell Lowline Cross Meat at Farmers Markets in the Franklin Area, under a new directive from the NZFSA as a Food Control Plan for the sale of red meat at Farmers Markets.
 
 
 

WE MADE THE EFFORT AS WE KNEW OUR PRODUCT WOULD BE WELL ACCEPTED

 
  This exercise has taken some considerable effort to put together and make our Lowline Cross meat available at specialised markets. We have to thank the Franklin District Council and the NZFSA for all the help they provided to us. Without their support it would have never happened.
 
 
 

IT IS, WITHOUT EXAGGERATION, AN EXPERIENCE THAT CUSTOMERS COME BACK FOR TIME AND TIME AGAIN.

 
  We sell all the beef cuts and have them processed and vacuum packed in approved facilities by the NZFSA. As marketers of our own beef, we have to abide by all the requirements of the NZFSA. This is for your safety as the consumer.

Our steaks such as the eye fillet, porterhouse, scotch and rump need to be sliced or cooked as a roast. Our convenient sized roasts are rolled roasts, topside roasts and bolar roasts and our corned silverside is superb. The mince is very lean and may need a small amount of additional oil when cooking.

As mince is a high percentage of the carcass, we have made the decision to produce pepperoni salami and real beef sausages as well. These products are without major amounts of additives.

Vacuum packing causes some products to bleed, we suggest that you remove the particular cut from the packing, drain and pat dry with a paper towel before cooking.

To maintain quality our Lowline Beef comes to you from our chiller which is kept at a constant temperature of 5ºC. Also under the NZFSA Food Plan the chiller has to be meticulous cleaned regularly with the temperature being continuously monitored.
 

 
  THIS WE DO FOR THE BENEFIT OF YOU OUR VALUED CUSTOMER  
 

Importantly, we monitor the BEST BEFORE DATE, and we are constantly checking to see that our product will be as good by this date as we claim. The date is from the day of slaughter and the average best before date is 20 days on average in the vacuum pack.
 

 
 

Our operation is no ordinary retail outlet; our intention is to sell the carcass in meat cuts, rather than supply sides or quarters of beef. It has taken us some time to arrive at the quantity for each cut so we can provide a mix and offer a choice to our customers.
 
Our farming procedures far exceed animal welfare standards.

Our Lowline Cross Steers are smaller and lighter than the main stream beef breeds, therefore the cuts are smaller but leaner.
