| Already this month we have made further improvements to this our
Website: the Gallery has been expanded and improved, giving a better
picture of our farm and lifestyle.
Winter is now tracking in and we are feeding out limited hay to the herd and bulls, we have had some steady cooler rain already and surprising is that the grass is growing and we are still picking mushrooms. Fortunately we are not short of feed. Preparation is underway for the F1 Lowline Jersey crossbred calves we rear each year, it will be late August before we receive the first batch and unfortunately numbers will be limited due to the fact one of our suppliers has sold his herd and the calves are no longer available to us. We must advise possible buyers we have already sold 50% so if you are interested in our proposition then please contact us now. Our Veterinarian has tested all our bulls for BVD and the results are negative, however they will have a boost of the vaccine in June. Its our policy now that we will not sell or lease any bulls without this important test being done. At the same time we gave the 2008 Purebred calves their booster of 7 in 1. This gives them the immunity to leptospirosis as well. Tartan Farms Rob Roy TF29 Herd No.7820 has been sold and will be off to the Southern Waikato, while two other registered bulls are off on loan to Rotorua to a new breeder and the other to Pukekohe. They will be delivered next month. During May, Rockhampton Beef 2009 Show has been on in Northern Queensland, the Lowlines were very much involved competing with the larger breeds to their credit. We were unable to attend but three breeders from New Zealand were present that we know of and we now await their de-briefing so we have a good perspective of the Lowline Breed in Australia. Our aim is to attend Sydney 2010 at Easter, if any breeder or prospective breeder is interested in coming with us please let us know as we intend to go as a group. The Lowline Breed will be the feature at this Royal Show, besides attending the show for the Judging, we are going to several major studs to view their cattle in Victoria & Queensland, we expect to be in Australia for 10 days and all accommodation will be arranged. We must now get on with the registration of our 2008 calves which has been delayed for a number of reasons. Because we have had a much larger project coming to fusion in the next month, which we hope to announce soon on the Website. |
